Jesus' Sixth Appearance
  • Summary

Jesus made his sixth appearance to forty Greek believers at Flavius' home, encouraging them with words of peace and unity, emphasizing the inclusivity of God's kingdom, and instructing them to spread the gospel worldwide. The Greeks, awestruck and vigilant, spent the night discussing Jesus' teachings and remained alert for any further appearances. This event, along with others, fueled excitement among believers about Jesus' resurrection, contrasting sharply with the increasing challenges faced by the Sanhedrin.

  • Appearance to the Greeks

Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 30 CE, fifteen minutes after his fifth appearance, Jesus appeared to some forty Greek believers at the home of Flavius. While they were busy discussing reports that they heard of the Master being seen, though all the doors were barred for fear of the hostile Jews, Jesus appeared in their midst and said, "said: "Peace be upon you. While the Son of Man appeared on earth among the Jews, he came to minister to all men. In the kingdom of my Father, there shall be neither Jew nor gentile; you will all be brethren – the sons of God. Go you, therefore, to all the world, proclaiming this gospel of salvation as you have received it from the ambassadors of the kingdom, and I will fellowship you in the brotherhood of the Father’s sons of faith and truth." Jesus then took leave, and they saw him no more.

The Greeks remained in the house, overcome with awe, and fearful of their enemies. Seeing and hearing a man who was dead, is not conducive to sleeping. They stayed awake all night, excited by visualizing the Master, they animatedly discussed Jesus and refused to sleep in case Jesus visited again. Many of these Greeks had camped at Gethsemane, kept vigil, and witnessed the arrest and betrayal of Jesus.

  • Rumors Being Substantiated

Like finding out something is true that you had always hoped would be, there was a wave of excitement electrifying all believers hearing of Jesus’ resurrection and appearing in different locations to various believers. And now that the apostles had time alone for solemn reflection and to consider the possibility that Jesus was alive, Jesus looked forward to seeing them again. Meanwhile, the Sanhedrin only multiplied the problems they had with Jesus of Nazareth.

With only fifteen minutes separating Jesus' appearance to the woman and then to the Greeks in different locations, and considering all entrances were securely bolted, Jesus' resurrected body clearly had spiritual and non-physical capabilities.
